Despite substantial evidence tying Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to drug cartels and corrupt politicians, the U.S. media has almost completely refused to report any of the many significant story lines it should be covering. In fact, the mainstream American media seems to be purposely ignoring many important stories, including social unrest, Mexico’s sinking economy, and widespread crime and violence.
The stability of Mexico is very much in question at this point, and many in the Trump administration believe they should be moving as quickly as possible to more fully secure the border to head off any large scale influx of Mexican citizens desperate to flee the country’s deteriorating economy and social stability.
