ORANGE POLICE CARS COLLIDE TRAPPING ONE OFFICER

Two City of Orange police cars collided in the 1400 block of North Batavia Street shortly after midnight Wednesday trapping one Officer in his patrol car. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to cut the drivers side doors off the car to free the Officer.

Paramedics transported that Officer by ambulance to UCI Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. The other Officer was treated for minor injuries.

Officers from the Santa Ana Office of the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene to conduct an independent investigation into the cause of the crash. Both Officers were reportedly responding to a call at the time of the crash.
