GEAR UP LANDING CLOSES JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT

A twin engine Cessna was forced to make an emergency landing at John Wayne airport with its’ nose gear not in the locked position. The plane landed with its nose down and skidded to a stop blocking the main runway.

Both the passenger and pilot were uninjured. All flights were diverted for about an hour as crews removed the plane and cleaned up a fuel spill. Commercial flights the diverted to Ontario Airport were allowed to fly to Orange County after the normal noise curfew time.
