A Robinson R22 helicopter made an emergency landing on hole 3 at the Costa Mesa Country Club after experiencing mechanical problems around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
Costa Mesa Firefighters used golf carts to access the course and find the downed helicopter. Both the flight instructor and his student were uninjured in the incident and the helicopter did not appear to sustain any damage.
The 2014 Robinson R22 helicopter is registered to Hotel Kilo Holdings LLC in of Laguna Beach and is used by John Wayne based One Above Aviation for training and other operations.
The golf course had few golfers on it at the time of the emergency landing.
Hole 3 is rated at a par of 4, the pilot appears to have made it in 1 shot.
