WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH WITH BIG RIG ON 5 FREEWAY

A woman was killed in an horrendous crash with a big rig on the southbound 5 freeway near the 55 freeway around 11:30 PM Monday night. The woman was driving a Honda that was literally shredded into pieces during the collision with the big rig.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about 30 minutes as the CHP stabilized the scene. Paramedics with the Orange County Fire Authority pronounced the woman died at the scene. It appeared that she was ejected into the carpool lane on impact.

The Santa Ana office of the CHP is investigating the crash. The big rig driver pulled over and remained at the scene.
