SUSPECTED DUI LANDS IN 2ND FLOOR OF SANTA ANA BUILDING

A suspected DUI driver and his passenger ended up in the second floor of a dental business at 319 E. 17th Street in Santa Ana after a high speed crash sent the car airborne. The car appears to have hit the center divider at high speed on 17th Street which launched it into the air and into the building.

The car and building caught fire but it was quickly extinguished by Firefighters.

The driver admitted to Santa Ana Police that he had recently used narcotics. He was transported to O.C. Global Hospital with minor injuries.

A city city worker responded to the scene in a loader and used the bucket to keep the car from falling as Firefighters worked to secure it.

An Urban Search & Rescue Team from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to assist the OCFA and City of Orange Firefighters and used their large tow truck to stabilize and later remove the car. Firefighters used an aerial ladder to rescue the trapped passenger and bring him to the ground. He was also transported to nearby O.C. Global Hospital with minor injuries.
