PROPANE TRUCK OVERTURNS ON THE 5 FREEWAY

An accident involving a 2500 gallon propane tanker that rolled over the side of the southbound 5 freeway near Crown Valley Parkway caused major traffic problems in south Orange County today.

According to the C.H.P., the accident happened around 8:30 this morning when the truck rolled over and off the side of the freeway injuring the driver and causing a small propane leak from the tank. The driver of the truck was transported to nearby Mission Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The propane leak required the freeway to be closed to all traffic as Hazardous Materials crews stopped the leak and heavy duty tow trucks uprighted the propane truck.

All lanes of the freeway were opened to traffic by late afternoon. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
