MAN AND DOG ESCAPE EARLY MORNING FIRE

An elderly man and his dog narrowly escaped a fire in their mobile home early Wednesday morning. The fire was reported to the Orange County Fire Authority at 1:29 am at 13061 Fairview Street in Garden Grove.

Before the fire department arrived, a Garden Grove Police Officer and a bystander went to the front door of the smoke filled mobile home and yelled for the man who was reported to still be inside.

The man was able to find his way to the front door with his dog in his arms and was helped out of the home and into the street as Firefighters were arriving.

The man was treated by Paramedics at the scene. He and his dog appeared to be ok, and lucky to have escaped the fire.

No working smoke detector was believed to be in the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but may have started in the water heater.
