CAT RESUSCITATED AT GARDEN GROVE HOUSE FIRE

A Garden Grove family escaped a house fire shortly after 6:30 p.m. at 13032 Tiller Avenue. Firefighters searched the house and found the family’s 2 cats unconscious. The cats were brought out of the house to the front lawn where Firefighters from the City of Orange began resuscitation efforts. They were able to save a 4 year old cat named Mia, but unfortunately an older cat named Lulu did not survive.

Fire Engines in Orange County are equipped with oxygen masks designed to fit pets. The pet mask was used on both cats and appeared to be crucial in saving the 4 year old cat. That cat revived quickly and was handed over to one of her owners.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and appears to have started in the garage. 3 people were in the house at the time and 1 of them noticed the fire in the garage and quickly alerted the other 2 and called 911.

Firefighters from Garden Grove, Orange, and Anaheim had the fire out in about 30 minutes.
