5 INJURED, 3 CRITICALLY IN SANTA ANA HOUSE FIRE

5 people were injured in a 3 alarm house fire shortly before midnight Saturday night at 4814 Morningside Avenue in Santa Ana.

2 people managed to escape the house on their own and 3 additional critically injured people, including a 15 year old girl, were pulled from their beds by Firefighters and carried outside where Paramedics began treating them.

Garden Grove Firefighters were the first to arrive and reported a tall palm tree near the house on fire and quickly discovered the house was also on fire.

2 of the injured residents were already outside and were treated by other arriving Firefighters while the first crews pulled hose lines off their fire engines and began attacking the fire and entering the house. 1 of those 2 was treated at the scene and declined to be taken to the hospital.

The 4 other injured residents were loaded into ambulances and several were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and the others to Orange County Global Hospital in Santa Ana. Both hospitals are Trauma Centers and have Burn Units.

Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority, Garden Grove, and Fountain Valley had the fire knocked down in about 30 minutes. As many as 10 cats and dogs may have died in the fire.

Fire Investigators responded at to the scene to try to determine the cause of the fire.
