ORANGE OFFICER HIT BY SUSPECTED DUI RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL

The Orange Police Officer that was struck by a suspected drunk driver in the early morning hours of December 10th, 2016 has been released from the hospital. Officer Muzayen was on a call around 3 a.m. in the 500 north block of Cambridge Street when he was struck from behind while out of his patrol car by a car allegedly driven by Ashley Victoria Bertolino, 27 of Tustin.

Officer Muzayen suffered serious injuries to one leg in the crash that required extensive surgery to repair. Despite the devastating injuries, it appears he may be able to return to work after lengthy physical therapy.

Officer Muzayen had been an aggressive enforcer of drunk driving laws, he told reporters that this incident will only further motivate him to look for people driving under the influence when he gets back to work.
