DRONE STUCK IN HIGH VOLTAGE WIRES ABOVE TRAIN TRACKS

Southern California Edison crews tried for hours to dislodge a drone that became stuck in 12,000 volt wires above the Orange train station. Orange Firefighters responded to the station shortly after 8 PM and spotted he dangling drone. While the owner did not make him or herself known, it was obvious they were still in the area as the drone repeatedly started up but was unable to free itself.

Several witnesses reported that the drone had been flying over the station and trains before hitting the wires and becoming entangled.

Power company crews tried several methods to remove the drone, including using a non conductive pole and a 600 PSI water canon but the drone would not budge. After numerous attempts over about 5 hours, they decided to leave the drone on the wire until they could return with a larger boom truck to get close enough to remove the drone by hand.

The drone remains stuck on the wire dangling over the busy train tracks that are shared by Amtrak, MetroLink, and freight trains.
